Why You Need to Tweet?

ppltwitter I can’t believe there are still a lot of business and marketing people out there can’t see the value of Twitter! What are the things that hold you back from tweet?

Sure, you can have your own reasons for not tweet, well, if you are operating a business, no matter how big or how small the size your firm is, if you don’t like it and then ask someone else in your organization tweet.

If you still wondering toward “What can you do with only 140 characters?”. You really need to re-think it again. Twitter’s 140 characters limit actually can help you write your message direct to the point, with little room for bloated or mixed messages.

Due to the fact of all the links can be sent with your tweets, you have ample opportunity to present your message in any format – from simple text to rich multimedia and video. You can really leverage the Twitter Power to hang out with people that share your interests in any place in real-time, and offering opportunities for deeper collaboration.

Back to April, I wrote this Simple Twitter Guide for Future Tweeps as a give away gift for marketingbyann readers. If you read it already, then good, if not, you can download and read it now, it is free.

I use Twitter to share marketing articles in which it might be interested to my followers. I use it to Tweet every time I post a new blog entry. Not only that, I also use this tool to asking for help from others (it is amazing for me to see how fast the reply I can receive every time I got into something I don’t know that I need help from others by just asking ).

Sometime I also tweet some of my own ramblings to let my followers know what I up to, where I am or how I feel etc .. ;-)

So far, Twitter not only give me the opportunity to promote my own blog posts, which drives traffic to my site. It also help me build credibility for my personal brand. The combined effort of all of my social networking activities has given me leads for my consulting practice and other business opportunities.

For me, I think part of the social networking purpose is to show your personal side as well as your business side. By incorporating both, you can demonstrate your personality behind the brand.

You know, people want to do business with people who are alive, rather than faceless corporations. If you ask me – do I want to know every time someone drink coffee? No, not really. But if they share their humor or information about their non-professional interests and more personal side, they may become more memorable to me.

And personally I think Twitter is both like another email inbox and an RSS feed of useful links and insight from PR folks, social media leaders and other news organizations. You can watch how others use Twitter, ask questions and use as a quick focus group or research avenue for your own purposes.

If you haven’t Tweet, you really should start of doing it Now. Once you get on the Twitter, and then do this:

* Follow local people – listen what they say
* Follow smart people – learn from them
* Try your best to give back to others more than you get

Enjoy your Tweet experience .. :-)
