Publish It
Once your name has been set up and your pages are complete, the next thing you need to do is take the Web address you’ve set up and publish your pages to that address. It’s sort of like moving your belongings into your new home or office. You’re ready to publish.
In the Web world, publishing simply means taking your pages and graphics and copying them from your computer onto the Web site through a process known as File Transfer Protocol (FTP).
It bears repeating, too, that if you use a Web hosting/site building, this process is done for you automatically and without any work required on your part once your pages are complete! So if a simple solution is what you’re after, you really should consider using such a service to get you up and running quickly, and without any special knowledge or software required.
Market It
Once your site is up and running, it’s time to get the promotional machine in gear. From registering with search engines to Direct e-Mail Marketing campaigns and adding forms to help you create marketing lists and programs, you need to come up with an effective marketing plan to drive traffic to your site. If your follow up is not automated, you won’t achieve 5% of the success that you would otherwise achieve.
Evaluate It
The Web is made by people, and people aren’t perfect, and people make up a LOT of coo-coo-crazy stuff.
The World Wide Web can be a great place to accomplish research on many topics. But putting documents or pages on the web is easy, cheap or free, unregulated, and unmonitored. Therein lays the rationale for evaluating carefully whatever your site is.
Good Web sites aren’t like traditional marketing collateral pieces that are updated only quarterly or annually. They’re more of an ongoing process that changes and grows as you learn what works and what doesn’t. Your site not only needs you feed it with new fresh content consistently, it also need you to improve its usability and seo from time to time.
Till next time – happy sharing.
Cheers
