Ann’s Ramblings
Greeting!
Few days ago, I had meeting with Jenny, a client of mine. She told me she is thinking of selling her business, but she does not really clear how to get started and what is the first step she should take?
Since I also do not have experience in this area, so I suggest her go to see business brokers and ask for their help.
Selling a business is not that simple, certainly not as straightforward as it seems like it should be. There are many things need to take into consideration. One of the things I think is that instead of doing homework of how to market your product, how to market your business should come first.
Marketing your business for sale is complicated since you will face so many different situations. To avoid most of the stress is to sell your business through business brokers because they buy and sell businesses for a living, they provide a competent hands-off service that usually ends with a successful sale and transition and they have experiences in doing the deal.
Also, turn the work to business brokers can help you save a lot of time. Marketing your business for sale requires around-the-clock effort. It is not just getting the words out; it is an entire process, which includes from pricing your business, creating an exit strategy and publicizing its availability. The real key to successfully marketing your business for sale is to connect with the right person.
Even above these are not the cases, business brokers will have knowledge and give you advices in terms of where to sell your business, where to list it and marketed effectively.
On the other hand, if you are thinking about marketing your business for sale on your own and without business brokers, it is certainly possible.
If you have time and expertise to maintain the necessary documentation and negotiate the various financial planning and tax issues, you may find that you prefer to be personally involved in all parts of the process.
Ultimately, how you go about marketing your business for sale is your decision. Some sellers prefer to draw on their own experience and passion to communicate the value and worth of their business to potential buyers. So you pursue this way, you may find that marketing your business for sale is not as complicated or traumatic as some people believe.
Have a good forward week.
Cheers
