Ann’s Ramblings
Greeting!
A pro copywriter friend of mine Wendy showed me a weird email she received recently during her trip in Bangkok few days ago.
It said: “I have a sales letter that I would like to use, but it appears to be copyrighted. I was wondering, if I e-mailed a copy of it to you, would you tell us the necessary changes in order to avoid copyright infringement?”
Wendy was laughing about it because the statement “it appears to be copyrighted” made it obvious that this person did not realize that in the U.S. - all sales letters are immediately considered copyrighted to the person who creates them.
Generally, those who write sales letters are not required to go through some sort of formal copyright process. However, if it has discovered that their ad has been plagiarized, which means copy a sales letter word-for-word, they reserve the right to sue.
Writing a good sales letter is not an easy work since there’s so many “rules” to follow, such as straining your brain to write attention-getting headlines, compelling offers, “mouth-watering” bullets” etc.
But it’s clear to me that any entrepreneur or salesperson who wants to get out of the ranks of the “pushers and peddlers”, they must have a great sales letter. There is no substitute.
So how do you write a good sales letter for your business without risking copying someone else’s ad and getting sued by others?
Yea, you may say, “What about I am using those “copyright-free” sales letters or sales letter templates?”
Okay, a copyright-free sales letter is usually the one that has been “created” by a copywriter to sell some sort of “marketing course”. The course teaches some marketing principles and contains some “copyright-free sales letters - just plug in your information and mail them”.
The only problem with these “copyright-free” letters is that lots of them have not actually been tested for response. They are in there to “add value” to the course.
If you want to use those copyright-free letters, ask yourself this first - “Are they really valuable if they haven’t been tested?”
The answer is Nope.
In addition, you may have seen those “fill-in-the-blank” sales letter templates made for people who do not want to create ads from scratch.
It says as the “lazy man’s” way of having “professionally written” sales letter that written for you without having to pay for an expensive copywriter.” What you need to do is just “insert your offer here” and then you go…
Ha, looks simple and easy …
Again, back to the reality, these letters has not been actually tested for response as well, not only that, these “template” kits also contain letters for every type of business under the sun (retail, business-to-business, M*L*M, professionals, service businesses, etc).
Think about it - How could a copywriter who just “coming up” with these letters off the top of his head ever test them for response?
Let’s say to the retail shoe business. You think the creator going to mail out a bunch of letters (at his own expense) to shoe stores in order to see if his phone will start ringing?
Here is what I understand about a great sales letter - It means to replace the need for all those prehistoric ways of “begging for business”.
To maintaining, an ‘arsenal’ of proven, winning sales letters that will not only convert prospects into buyers, it also move buyers into life-long customers. If you think deeper, a great sales letter actually is the MOST important ‘weapon’ for any marketers, so we all should have it.
However, not everybody has ability to write a good copy, you can learn it but it takes tons of time, money and patience. Most marketers do not like these three commodities.
You can hiring a good copywriter write it for you, but it will cost you a bloody fortune, also you may not get it on time, good copywriter (like my friend Wendy) always busy, they’ll put you on a waiting list a mile-long.
Same as you, I am always looking for this part of solution to sort out my sales letter needs. Finally I find this Long Lost Sales Letter.
It is a collection of winning, proven letters written by Dan Lok and Mr. X, both of whom are professional direct-response copywriters. It can be used by a brand-new startup business or a multi-million dollar company, as well as to any business who wants a low-cost or no-cost way to generate new customers as well as generating more profit from existing customers.
You can use these sales letters in any direct response media format; like direct mail, email, web content (landing pages, squeeze pages, free reports, etc.), voice broadcasting, newspaper ads, magazine ads, and postcards - even radio or TV and so forth.
Here is what I like it about this Collection - you can choose and piecemeal parts of letters that you like into other parts from other letters to create a completely new piece. Nothing has to be “kept together as-is”. If you see an offer from one letter and a headline from another, combine them and “piecing it together” - no writing required!
It is instantly downloadable in digital pdf format, so you can use the material immediately. Just open up the massive pdf file, search the table of contents for a letter that sounds like what you need, that is it.
In there, you will see over 188 pages of classifieds, long-form sales letters, one-page advertorials, ‘Endorsed Mailings’ and other tried-and-true direct response techniques.
So any entrepreneur or businessperson who wants to learn first-hand the “inner workings” of how a very successful direct-response company really works will be enthralled thumbing through the pages of this Long Lost Sales Letter package.
Cheers
