Ann’s Ramblings

Greeting!

Are you planning to use content for your info-product or looking for content to publishing it on your website?

Okay, I am going to share with you where to get them - FREE :-)

You can get free content from public domain.

So what “public domain” means?

Public domain means any work that is NOT protected under US copyright law.

This includes ALL work that published before 1923 under certain conditions and work published up to 1978. A ‘work’ can be anything, such as a book, a play, music, photographs, movies, instruction manuals, courses, reports, posters and so forth.

Huh, cool …

Here are six sites where you can find public domain content:

  • http://wikipedia.org
  • Wikipedia.org is an encyclopedia and providing free content for your web site.

According to the website: “The license we use grants free access to our content in the same sense as free software is licensed freely. That is to say, Wikipedia content can be copied, modified, and redistributed so long as the new version grants the same freedoms to others and acknowledges Wikipedia as the source. Wikipedia articles therefore will remain free forever and can be used by anybody subject to certain restrictions, most of which serve to ensure that freedom.”

Public domain can be in all sort of format — printed documents, audio recording, video recording, software, etc.

Here are three more sites where you can get free content to use that related to audio recording:

  • http://www.gutenberg.org/browse/categories/2
  • http://www.retrofilm.com
  • Aha, you might get excited with so many websites to explore right now ;-)

    But, hold on.

Before you use any of the public domain content, you need to know some stuff about copyright issue. You should read the terms and conditions for using them that stated at each of the website above.

You can find general copyright information at:

    http://www.copyright.gov

I’m not a lawyer, so I can’t give you any advice about copyright issues.

However, it will worth your time to explore this source of free content … some of them are real good quality stuff.

Hope you find it helpful …

    Cheers
