Have you ever written any sort of report? Like write business report to your boss, school papers to your professor or to your teacher etc.
Writing a report may sound terribly daunting at first, but no matter what type of report, by knowing some of the basic structures and flow of a report can help to break up the report into smaller, logical segments that makes writing a breeze.
It is the same principle when comes to write a short report to promote your sales page or your online business.
In the recent years, writing short reports has become an effective way to make money on the net. One of the reasons for this is that it is reasonably quick to produce a short report of around 2000-2500 words, in contrast to writing an eBook with 60 pages or more, which requires a lot of research as well as lot of time to write it. However, if you are interested of creating your own ebook, this guide can help you out.
By starting out, you’ll need to know what topic to write on for a start. Identify a desperate problem that a lot of people are facing and make sure that this group of people has a proven track record of paying money to solve this problem.
What you’ll want to do next is to understand the problem yourself. We’ve all heard the business principle of “listen to your customer”. In analyzing of your business, you need to took that principle much further: You are not only listened to your paying customers, but also to free-trial customers who hadn’t yet decided to subscribe to the paid service, or buy your product.
Find out what this problem is about and why so many people are affected by it. Additional to that, you can look through Yahoo! Answers, FAQ pages, forums or any other authority sites for gain some better ideas.
Now that you have a basic understanding of the problem, it is time to draft out your sales letter. For some people, this step is probably the more challenge part than others – you can either write a sales letter by yourself or have someone else write it for you. Without a good sales page then it will be difficult to make sales. It is easier to sell a mediocre product with a good sales page than a great product with poor sales copy.
Start by stating the problem and describe emotions or feelings that are associated with the problem. Find a short story that tells your visitors how you came about finding your secret solution. Then tell them all the benefits they will get with your solution.
Once you have your sales letter. You can use it as a guide to write your report. Start by writing an outline of the report with the issues and benefits clearly listed.
Start with creating a table of contents and make sure you have a header where you can insert links to your other products or squeeze pages. Be sure to also include your profile in either at the beginning of the report or end of it to build trust and gain credibility among your readers.
Dont’ forget to add as many relevant images as possible to spice up your report, no one wants to open up an short report and be bombarded with a wall of text.
Once after you proof read your document and if you are satisfied with it, you can go ahead and launch your product.
After that, give away the free report that you wrote on your website and make sure it contains links to your sales page. Tell your visitors who have downloaded the report that it is free to share with their friends. This way – your report becomes viral.
Frankly speaking, to bring lots of visitors to your site, it does take time, effort, and money. But it’s worth the effort to determine just what is going through the heads of buyers, non-buyers, and former buyers. You knew what actions people took – now you had to discover why they took them.
For those that either don’t have the time to do all these parts of the process, then the best option is to outsource some or all of the tasks, which means that there is an upfront cost you need to pay, however, if you choose the right people at the right prices then this money will be returned from higher sales from someone that is competent in the areas that you outsourced.
Till next time – happy sharing
Cheers!
