Please Don’t Get Stuck on Google!

Greetings All,

Is it laziness? Is it narrow or closed mindedness? Is it lack of direction?

For some reason, people think when you have a website, get your site on Google is the only one way to promote them and make money. And that’s why they will ultimately fall someday!

Gee, I get all this Google traffic and make some good money. And then one day Google changes something in their Algorithm and their business is toast … I know it’s cliche, what I want to say is that don’t put all your eggs in the Google basket. Not even just Google, but search engines in general.

The reason I brought this up today is because someone called anything other than SEO (Search Engine Optimization) a fad. Wow!

The reason he said that is because I said that webmaster’s have to evolve and think outside to the Search Engine box.

And I guess there are types of websites that thrive in the Search Engine environment or don’t care if they make money, which is fine. But if you want to make a living online and make some money, you have to expand your horizons.

The things I was suggesting are not fads. These are techniques and ideas they are tried-and-true methods that have been used for years to make a lot of people a lot of money.

People (that I know) have made millions of dollars online without ever giving Search Engine, and even Pay Per Click advertising any attention at all. They don’t care. They don’t need them.

I’m not going to get into all the different ways you can make money or get traffic without search engines in this one post, but they are out there.

Don’t get me wrong, don’t think I’m saying I don’t think search engines aren’t a good way to get free traffic. They are! At the very least though, go after multiple engines and don’t get stuck on Google.

Think about long term – there are things you MUST do to protect your long term objectives, if you just worrying about SEO, it isn’t going to secure that.

I spent quit a few hours today getting my latest Newsletter out, it is now online and you can read it.

Till next time – happy sharing ..

Cheers!

I couldn’t agree more with your sentiment here. I work in the affiliate marketing arena. For years I have worked with hundreds of affiliates that live and die by google. Now, that being said, many of them do extremely well and I are valued and trusted partners. But I’ve always been pushing them to look outside of that. My first recommendation is to always build something that people would want to come to. Not only writing for your audience, but provide your audience and/or community something of value and that will generate the most traffic overall. I’m afraid that building to Google limits what the product/site can be.

    Great post!

Hi Jamie – thanks for you recommendation and sharing, I am totally agreed with you. Audiences are very smart nowadays, they come to you because they find there something valuable for them, which they can use, apply or learn etc … yes, value does the talk! Thanks for your time :-)

Thanks Faisal – yes, quality content with ‘targeted keyword / phase’ is the key, even the person use PPC combine with SEO and other e-marketing tactics to drive the traffic to the site, if the content of the site is lousy, end up is waste money ..

I’m not sure how many other search engines out there are left to tackle, between Google and Bing, everything else is covered. What webmasters who are ’specializing’ in SEO are only doing so because they are a dying breed, technological changes make it easier for novices to setup websites, etc.

What is more important in relationship to the original website is to make sure, more content targeted keywords back link to your website, more articles of the same topic are propagated and link back, giving you a higher organic authority on the subject your website is all about.

SEO traffic is dead so to speak, I’d rather just do PPC.
