Shorter URLs Make Your Marketing Pitch Better

If you do a LOT of marketing by using social networking sites, like Twitter and FaceBook, you know they limit the length of posts. Since every character counts, take time to get URLs shortened before using them in your posts can help you make your pitch better.

URL shorteners basically help you squeeze a long URL into fewer characters to make it easier to share with others, use a shorter URL leaves more room for you to say what’s in your mind.

Often time, people are using Betaworks Studio’s Bit.ly URL shortener. Now Google has announced their own Google URLs Shorter Service goo.gl, which rival to bit.ly.

Google’s new URLs shorter service is free, it also shorten, share, track but it’s available only through the Google Toolbar and FeedBurner. In order to use it, you need to download Google Toolbar or signing to your Google account to get access FeedBurner.

According to Google about its shorter URL service,

* Security: As we do with web search, shortened URLs are automatically checked to detect sites that may be malicious and warn users when the short URL resolves to such sites.

* Speed: At Google we like fast products and we’ve worked hard to ensure this service is quick. We’ll continue to iterate and improve the speed of Google Url Shortener.
