It makes me think about the mind, when the mind focused on something, when it concentrated on the things and activities you are doing, you will have the skill and ability to direct the attention to one single thought or subject, to the exclusion of everything else. This skill is essential for every kind of success. Without it, your efforts will get scattered, but with it, you can accomplish great things.

By saying that, how many times a day do you read about a new trend or app – a “bright shiny object” that marketers dangle in front of you with the promise of saving your business? Every time, you add it to your arsenal – already overwhelmed by your blog, your videos, your ebooks and your social media, soon you will realize that your business is tricked out with every new tool in the book, but you still aren’t making any money.

You’re busy all day doing what you think you’re supposed to be doing. But you are very aware something is not working, because the money just isn’t flowing in fast enough. Why does this happen? Well, 99% of the time, it’s because your attention, concentration and focus are not in the right track or on the wrong strategies for your point in business growth.

It’s Tuesday, third week of July … fast, huh!

This post shall be getting done in the morning, due to tight up with some other things; I couldn’t get it finish on time, this lack of self-discipline kept me running around in circles, procrastinating like a princess…

Have you ever been like me, sometime have to go through this? Well, if you ask me to compare with before, I am so glad that I’m not ‘there’ anymore and I work daily on bringing more self-discipline into my life

But honestly speaking, even when you turn off every gadget and carefully structure your day, there is no guarantee of focus or creative mental energy. Sometimes you have it, sometimes you just don’t.

Understand, self-discipline is one of the very important factors that can directly impact the level of your success. Whenever you read a great success story, no matter it is from Tiger Woods, Oprah, Spielberg, Frank McKinney, to famous generals and more, you always hear it mentioned.

“They brought great discipline to their work.”

Put it in the simple way, it means no matter what you do, you need to be focus, concentrate and always get back on track, instead of go ‘off track’. You need to know what it takes (for you, personally) to get back on track.

Let’s say you have a working from home career, example, if you have 3 instant messaging programs open, email downloading on your 2nd monitor every few minutes, your feed reader updating with the latest news and notes, messages at various forums and social networking sites to get to, text messages on your cell phone to read and respond to… and a landline that always wants to ring at the wrong time …

Do you think your working result will be efficiency and effective? Sure not, what will be the results then? I think it’s enough to drive a person mad. How can you allow yourself to be that available and still expect to get any work done? Not for me, at least.

Working from home requires serious self-discipline and self-motivation, particularly when you find yourself sidetracked, frustrated, distracted, or sometime even worse – drawing a complete blank. Most of us have been there. Many of us never left there, that wonderful place where you keep searching for your “money spinner”.

Are you doing exactly what you want to do in your life today? Have you attained every goal you ever set yourself?

I have seen two people starting their businesses, both of them having setbacks, goals, problems and successes. Whenever I met the first person (a very ambitious good human-being), he always talked about his struggles, his frustrations, his plans, and his successes. He always stressed and drinking at the end of the day.

On the other hand, the second person, he had more frustration, bigger setbacks and struggles. But interesting thing is I never found him complaining or drinking. He has reached a bigger success (if money is the measuring unit of success).

The first person is well educated and well read. The second one is an uneducated person.

The different I see in between them is FOCUS. If the first person can just focus on one thing (it will be easy if you are not interested in anything else), he will be less stress and little frustration and achieve better success.

In the other words, the second person knows nothing about “Wisdom of Bill Gates”, but the first person can give you one-hour lectures on that without stop. Same as if you are a teacher who wants to ignite the minds of next generation, then you will not have similar success in real estate as your friend who knows nothing about igniting minds.

Well, don’t worry, and don’t feel bad. There are lots of other people just like the first person. People who have no direction, or they could possibly have a direction but just don’t know how to get there.
